Debbi Akers
Executive Director
Debbi Akers has been serving as the Executive Director of The CornerStone Initiative since September, 2016 and has been a team member at CornerStone since 2013. Debbi has felt a lifelong call of serving within under-resourced and often forgotten communities. She brings to CornerStone a degree in Social Work (University of Kentucky) and years of experience of serving with Compassion International and other global and local mission efforts. Most of all she brings a love for people in under-resourced communities and a desire to see them flourish.

Tony Akers
Director of Initiatives
Tony is the Director of Ministry Initiatives at CornerStone. He has a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s degree in Christian education. For 30 years Tony served the local church in Kentucky and Alabama as a minister to youth and also as a director of discipleship. Tony loves to equip and unleash the giftedness of others to serve Christ’s Kingdom. His primary role at CornerStone is direction of the key programs of Faith and Finances, Jobs for Life, and Amplify. He is a certified facilitator in Faith and Finances, Jobs for Life, and is also a Chalmers Center Ambassador.

Amy Talton
Director of Community Care
Amy is the Director of Community Care at CornerStone. She has a BSBA from UAH and a background in government project management. Amy is a spiritual director, IFS-trained coach, and certified trauma-informed practitioner. Amy loves empowering and equipping people to heal from the inside out. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and bringing trauma-informed care to all spaces. Amy loves offering the gift of contemplative listening so that others can feel seen, heard, and safe.
